Stunning Sunrises, Sunsets and Everything in Between

Nestled against both the Illinois River and the Spoon River, Emiquon Preserve is a living laboratory for wetland restoration and is recognized as a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance. Paddling and fishing (by boat only) are allowed by permit, obtainable at Dickson Mounds State Museum (which is also a great place for a visit, hike or picnic)!

Please note that Emiquon Preserve is owned by the Nature Conservancy, while the adjacent Emiquon National Wildlife Refuge (2600 acres) is federally owned. Both are part of an 11,000-acre wildlife complex but each has its own rules.
