Cooper Park North and Cooper Park South

If you’re looking for an up-close and personal Illinois River experience, Cooper Parks (North & South) are for you. Both provide flat and easy access to be right at the Illinois River’s edge. Cooper Parks are also home to the Illinois River Road Trail (stretching about a mile from Cooper South to Spindler Marina), which has one of the longest stretches of boardwalk in the area and provides an easily accessible way to enjoy the rich variety of plant life found in commonly flooded bottomlands.

Latitude/Longitude:

North: 40.699725, -89.539072

Sunsets and Skylines

Both parks have shelters and playground areas, and Cooper Park South is also a stop on the Greater Peoria Canoe and Kayak Trail. Whichever park you choose (choose both!), you’ll be able to gaze at city skyline views and sunsets across the river.
